Welcome to the website for the Green Party of Lancaster County. We are building a local structure of political influence and governing that is a true alternative to our current two party system in accordance with the State and National Green Parties.
As we organize (Spring 2010) the Lancaster County Green Party, we need to accomplish the following:
Elect officers (we need a chair, treasurer and secretary)
Establish and approve local rules (bylaws)
Notarize our bylaws, and register with the county
Meet regularly during the year (ideally monthly, but it can be less often)

As well, there are opportunities in various communities to run candidates at the city, county, and state level. If you are a Green or want to be, we can provide some support to you in getting signatures. Even if we have no local candidates, there are two statewide candidates from the Green Party this year (Mel Packer for US Senate and Ed Bortz for US Congress in the 4th District) that need our support in getting signatures.
Please contact us or show up at our meetings if you are interested in helping in these efforts. Even if you are very busy (aren't we all?), just a small investment of time over a long period of time can make a big difference. You will learn a lot and get to know your community in a way most people will never see.
